More than 300 pupils participated in Merensky High School’s traditional annual Fun-Run held on the 25th of January. The route started at the school’s main gate, and spiralled all the way to the game reserve and back again covering a distance of 3,8 kilometres.
The junior runners did well with Janco Coetzee, Michelle Brummer and Bercha Venter crossing the line first. Francois Notnagel and Sancha van Niekerk led the senior pack.
Runners up in the category for the junior boys were Jaco van Staden and Matt Myburg. In the junior girls section Leoné Slabbert came second. The Senior boys, Juan-Jacques Moller and Simoné van den Bergh finished in second place with Samuel Modiba and Jenelle de Jonge occupying the third position.
The new, dynamic grade 8 Plasies went all out with a super 79 percent attendance. Afterwards rotten tomatoes went flying when participants celebrated the Plasie version of “La Tomatina”.
