Tsaneng secondary school, a farm school on the grounds at Westfalia just outside Tzaneen, participated in the popular Tritech Science Competition this week. Seven of the pupils from this school made history by being the first ever group from their school to participate in this regional science competition.
The group identified two challenges at their school which they attempted to solve, namely water wastage and unhygienic ablutions on the premises. Through rigorous experiments and some ground-breaking work, the group of young scientists found viable and sustainable solutions which will carry their school well into the future.
The next step for these aspiring young scientists is the National Tritech Science Competition which is to be held on the 15th and 16th of September this year at the neighbouring Merensky High School.
