At the prize giving ceremony to honour the top academic achievers of 2017, Mrs Tammy Zhanda, financial manager at Hans Merensky, Northern Timbers, as well as member of the Merensky High School governing body, delivered the key note address.
During this prestigious event, blue certificates were awarded to learners with an aggregate of 80% or higher. Silver certificates were awarded to members of the top 10 achievers. Academic colours were also awarded to an elite group while medals of honour were awarded to the top 3 candidates in every grade.
Grade 8: Mariesa Schutte (bronze), Kanyisile Nkuna (silver) and Emma Dalrymple-Hay (gold medal and trophy for best achievement with an aggregate of 93,5%).
Grade 9: Michaela Stanley (bronze), Suandrie Corbett (silver) and Iszabella le Roux (gold medal and trophy for best achievement with an aggregate of 95,3%).
Grade 10: Janco Blignaut and Stefan Corbett share a bronze medal, Anize Basson (silver) and Juan-Jacques Moller (gold medal and trophy for best achievement with an aggregate of 86,4%).
Grade 11: Chanel Dohse (bronze), Carmi Venter (silver) and Anya Glazer (gold medal and trophy for best achievement with an aggregate of 91,8%).
The following subject trophies were also awarded:
Grade 11 agricultural technology, Tyron Diedericks.
Best junior in agriculture, Iszabella le Roux.
Best senior in agriculture, Jade Barnatt.
Best achievement in grade 11 information technology, Heinke Lubbe.
Best achievement in grade 11 mathematics and physical science, Carmi Venter.
