Five of Laerskool Tzaneen Primary’s six rugby teams played in the Limpopo semi- and final matches held in Warmbaths on Saturday, the 16th of June. Two teams, namely the U/9’s and the 2nd team, won their final matches and are now the new provincial champions. The U/10 team is boasts the runners-up spot in their contest. All teams played tough matches on the day, but managed to hold their heads – and spirits – up high.
The U/9 boys won their semi-final match against Bosveld Primary from Ellisras with a score of 27-0. They played in the final against Pietersburg Oos and won that match by 19 points to 14. These young men are now proud Limpopo Champions for the 2018 season.
The U/10 team played their semi-final match against Krugerpark Primary from Mokopane and won 12-5. Unfortunately, they lost the final against Pietersburg Oos with a score of 10-24.
The 3rd team played in the semi-final against Thabazimbi and lost in nail-biting match by one point, 12-13.
The 2nd team won their semi-final against Thabazimbi with a score of 13-0 before going on to win their final against Krugerpark by 19 points to 12. They are also proudly Limpopo champions for the 2018 season.
The 1st Team lost their semi-final encounter against Thabazimbi by two converted tries in a match that ended 10-24 in favour of their opponents.
“We can bring an end to this rugby season by saying congratulations to all of these boys who showed that hard work and dedication certainly pays off. Thank you also to all the parents who supported their children during the season. It is a really great day to be a Larrie,” said Willes Steenkamp, Head of Sports at Laerskool Tzaneen Primary.
